Rockledge was incorporated in 1887, making it the oldest city in Brevard County. It's named for the coquina rock ledges along the Indian River, and Rockledge Drive still follows the river as part of the Indian River Lagoon Scenic Highway. About 27,700 people lived here at the 2020 census, between US 1, Fiske Boulevard and Barnes Boulevard out to I-95.

Rockledge's tap water comes from the City of Cocoa's utility, not Melbourne's. As across the county, many homes irrigate from a shallow well, and some older and edge-of-town properties may still use a household well.
What we see
- Old pumps on established riverside lots.
- Submersibles on deeper wells tripping breakers.
- Tanks waterlogging and causing short cycling.
